Giovanni Pompetti is a film editor and visual effects artist based between New York and Rome.

After graduating in Editing and Visual Effects from Roma Film Academy in 2011, he began his career at PostFactory NY (now SIM) as a VFX artist and assistant online editor. In 2014, he co-founded the Brooklyn-based production company Wrong Way Pictures, where he leads the post-production department. His first feature as lead editor, If Only I Were That Warrior (2015), won the Italian Golden Globe for Best Documentary.

He later joined VICE Media as an editor for short-form content, before returning to Italy to edit the Netflix feature La Partita. His international experience includes working as assistant editor and VFX editor on HBO’s The New Pope (Paolo Sorrentino), associate editor on American Night alongside Oscar-winner Zach Staenberg, and VFX editor on HBO’s My Brilliant Friend (2021–2024). In 2023, he served as assembly editor on the Netflix series SKAM Italia.

More recently, Giovanni has been specializing in the use of AI tools to support and enhance both editing and visual effects workflows.
